A native and pillar of Elkhart County, Bob Barnes is described as a, “main street leader as opposed to a wall street leader.” Bob cares deeply about his community and has been very active throughout the years. From mentoring middle-school boys through, Young Warriors, to investing in youth at, The Learning Center (currently Teen Challenge), Bob is adamant about the importance of legacy and investing into the next generation toward youth knowing their history, and having life-skills and a personal relationship with Jesus!

Bob Barnes celebrates 34 years of marriage to the love of his life, Georgia, and is a father to three adult children (with spouses!), a sweet grand-baby and two rescue dogs; Izzy and Mulder. As an EHS manager in the local RV Industry who was raised by small business owner parents, Bob is passionate for thriving small businesses and partnerships in Elkhart County!

You might spot Bob & Georgia riding bicycles on our fabulous local Pumpkinvine Trail, enjoying a work-out at our Elkhart Aquatic Center, or enjoying tasty treats at one of our many wonderful county hotspots. Bob and Georgia are active members of Tri-Lakes Community Church in Bristol, where Bob is a drummer, (as well as drumming for various churches in Elkhart County).

Regularly donating platelets to save lives and improve life quality for others, Bob encourages citizens to donate as well, believing, “it is the easiest way to save a life, and it doesn’t cost you a dime!”

Raised by a WWII veteran, Bob is both passionate to support our brave veterans and active troops (which includes his marine son-in-law), and honors their tremendous dedication and sacrifice to keep our country free. It is this stalwart commitment to freedom for Elkhart County and it’s citizens which has stirred Bob Barnes to run for Elkhart County Commissioner (District 1). ~
